About the Fair
St Boswells Fair was historically one of the largest livestock trading fairs in Scotland, where deals were made on horses, cattle, and sheep. Today, it continues as a mainly horse-focused fair, attracting many Gypsy and Traveller families who gather on the picturesque village green for several days.
The fair is rich in culture and tradition, with stalls selling everything from horse tack to pots & pans, children’s clothes, and more. You’ll also find palmists and fortune tellers ready to give you a glimpse into what the future holds!
With roots stretching back hundreds of years, the fair is always held near St Boisil’s Feast Day (18th July), and it remains a key date in the local calendar. A highlight of the weekend is the Saturday horse and cart drive, a lively and much-loved tradition.
Please Note:
Fairs can be cancelled or rescheduled at short notice, so please check before travelling to avoid a wasted journey.
