What’s On at Moreton Show 2024

The Moreton Show 2024, held on a sprawling 165-acre site in the North Cotswolds, promises a day brimming with excitement and attractions for the entire family. This year’s event features an impressive lineup of activities and competitions that celebrate rural life and agricultural traditions.

One of the main highlights is the Shetland Pony Grand National. These adorable Shetland Ponies, ridden by young jockeys, will race around the Grand Arena twice during the day—at 13:35 and 16:20. It’s a colorful and thrilling spectacle that captures the essence of fun and excitement at the show.

In the Grand Arena, visitors will be treated to some of the show’s most spectacular events. The 1.25m Five Show Showjumping Challenge will see skilled riders and their horses compete in a high-stakes showjumping finale. Another exciting event is the Hayman-Joyce Pony Club Pairs Relay, where teams of ponies and riders demonstrate agility and teamwork. Additionally, the Grand Parade of Livestock is a must-see, showcasing top-quality cattle, sheep, and goats, with stockmen and women traveling from all over the UK to present their prized animals.

The Horse Area features Arena Eventing, a dynamic competition where teams of horses tackle both cross-country and show jumping obstacles, racing against the clock for the best time. This thrilling event highlights the skill and endurance of both horses and riders. Additionally, the farrier competitions are a treat for those interested in equine care, as talented farriers compete to create the ‘Best Shod Horse’ by expertly shaping metal into horseshoes.

For fans of more varied activities, the show includes RPM Bike Trials, where riders showcase their skills and balance in a series of challenging obstacles. Sheep Shearing demonstrations provide insight into this traditional farming skill, with experienced shearers displaying their speed and precision.

Don’t miss the opportunity to see the Heavy Horses in the Hooky Horse Area. When they’re not parading in the Grand Arena, these magnificent animals can be found up close, offering a chance to appreciate their strength and grandeur.
