Holsteiner Horse – One of the top sport horse breeds in the world

History and Origin

Holsteiner Horse Their initial breeding was carried out by monks at the monastery of Uetersen in the 13th century.
Initially they were used for farm work, carriage pulling and cavalry.
Popularised as cavalry horses in European armies in the 17th–18th centuries.
Refinement was made in the 19th century from Yorkshire Coach horses and Cleveland Bay stallions.
After WW-II, they were developed as sport horses from breeds such as Thoroughbred, Selle Français and Anglo-Arab.
The Holsteiner Verband enforced extremely strict breeding norms, allowing the breed to shine in international sports.

Height: 16 to 17 hands (163 – 173 cm)
Build: Strong and imposing, athletic yet elegant
Head: Expressive eyes, refined profile
Neck: Long, strong and gracefully arched
Back & Hindquarters: Strong loin, explosive hindquarters – essential for jumping
Legs: Clean legs with strong joints and large hooves
Coat Colors: Bay, Black, Brown, Gray; Chestnut also appears, but does not have pinto markings
